SCRAP MINI GUIDE

Wow, I'm very free now... So, I'll write something more informative( because I'm too free ). OK, lets get started.

Introduction:
OK, I'll start with the main idea of this archetype. Most of the "Scrap" cards have recycling ability and interact with each other, creating high consistency and can maintain advantage quite well. Most of the "Scrap" need you to destroy card on your field to work, or will trigger their effect when destroyed. They have their own tuner and synchro monsters which further improve their versatility and consistency.

Now, lets do some review on "Scrap" cards... I'm not going to review all of them, but I'll show you the useful one...

Monster

SCRAP BEAST
Erm... not a bad card. It has pretty solid 1600 ATK and recycling ability just like other scrap card. It works with SCRAPSTORM too. However, what makes it shine is that it's a tuner it can comboes with SCRAP CHIMERA. Run 3.

SCRAP CHIMERA
Probably the best "SCRAP" card, or one of the best. It's a +1 upon summon, a theme JUNK SYNCHRON which can turn into an instant SCRAP DRAGON. The draw back of only being able to synchro summon "Scrap" synchro monster make it balanced. Run 3.

SCRAP GLOBIN
A great stall card. It's not destroyed by battle. If it is attacked, at the end of battle phase he'll destroy himself and recycle other "Scrap" monster to your hand. Being a tuner only makes it better. Run 3.

SCRAP GOLEM
A mini boss monster for Scrap archetype. He has downside as a 1 tribute monster. However, I'll still say it's a great card. With this goy, you can do lot's of thing. Synchro, maintain field presence, or provide card to be destroyed by other scrap cards... It's 2300 body wins battle by it's own. Run 2 or 3. 2 is better for me as 3 will often be dead draw.

SCRAP SEARCHER
It's states is terrible. But what really make this card good is it effect. Whenever "Scrap" monster you control is destroyed, it is special summoned from your graveyard and destroy all non-"Scrap" monster you control. It often protect you from taking direct ATK, and the sametime maintain your field presence. Or acts as tribute folder to summon SCRAP GOLEM. It makes an amazing combo with SCRAP GOlEM. Use GOLEM's effect to summon this card to your opponent's field to destroy all non-"Scrap" monster they control. This will wipe their monster out... Run 1.

SPELL

SCRAPSTORM
One of the card that contributes to Scrap's competivity. You can do lot's of thing with this card. This card is a -1 by itself, but because of recycling ability of "Scrap" cards, it normally becomes 1 for 1... At the same time, this card can trick your opponent. As example, when your opponent try to use his BOTTOMLESS TRAP HOLE on your SCRAP BEAST, you chain this card. Your opponent just wasted his card while you lost nothing. Run 3.

SCRAPYARD
A themed RoTA for Scrap, but can only search tuner... still not a bad card, Run 1 or 2.

TRAP
This archetype still doesn't get any good trap support, hence you can just use some generic staples.

SUPPORT

GRAVEKEEPER'S SPY
Since Scrap's card pool doesn't large enough and not all of them worth running, hence this card becomes a great choice to full the space. It can maintain your field presence for GOLEM'S tribute folder. Moreover, it can act as synchro material for ARCANITE MAGICIAN. Run 3, as it only works great in multiple.

GRAVEKEEPER'S DESCENDANT
Oh, I've to remind you, it can be bought out by GRAVEKEEPER'S SPY. This is already a reason to run him. And it's destruction effect is an addition. Run 1.

SYNCHRO

SCRAP DRAGON
One of the best synchro monster in the game. 2800 body with a destruction effect which fits perfectly into SCRAP deck. Boss monster that should be run in 3 copies.

SCRAP TWIN DRAGON
Harder to summon. However, since CHIMERA only used to synchro summon "SCRAP" synchro monster. You should pick this card up.

SCRAP ARCHFIEND
2 reasons to run this card. 1stly, it's a 2700 beat stick. 2ndly, he belongs to "SCRAP" family... Run 3

Now, let's come to deck building section...

YUGIOH META PREDICTION (SEPT 2010)

TIER 1

X-SABER
They didn't get hit besides Rescue Cat, that's why they're good. Before Sept format, they're overpowered or we should say overpowered if compared with other deck. X-Sabers are outstanding. Their speed and their power are so much greater than others. In fact, Infernities can be said to be equal power as X-Sabers due to thier ability to spam synchro and push for heavy damage. However, last format proved that X-Sabers > Infernities. Infernities was a hype, they're too inconsistent and tend to draw bad hand. Before Sept, X-Sabers are god tier( due to major X-Sabers topping). This format, they're still very good deck( I believe so). But thier build is going to change, probably replace cat with another Fullhelm Knight, drop 1 Airbellum ( no point to run 2 w/o cat ) for Pashuul, main deck Reborn and Dark Hole...

GLADIATOR BEAST
They always get under the banlist, as expected. Again they're unhit, and due to this reason they're good. Many top tier deck is slowed down by Sept banlist, such as Blackwings, X-Sabers and Infernity. Hence, they can complete better. They're super versatile, super consistent, and have very good control power. They've precious asset - War Chariot and Gyzarus which keep them top tier for every format. They can fight against almost every deck. Even X-Sabers can't do that. GBs are the examples of well-designed card, good yet not broken.

QUICKDRAW
Dandylion unhit, okay. Gain more support, okay. Err... wait... what kind of support? Grow up bulb, a tuner that can revive w/o any cost? No! Tuning, RotA for Synchrons? No! I think it's pretty much very clear...

HERALD
Herald here means Advanced Ritual Art version of Herald. The ability to control the game and negate every opponent's move + special summon lockdown. Just like machina, almost every cards in this deck can search for ritual cards which make this deck very consistent. However, they're easy to side against. GB are thier nightmare...

TIER 1.5

BLACKWING
No point to hit this deck. They are one of the most balanced deck in last format. But still, due to Overwinning in OCG they were hit. With 1 Whirlwind, they lose thier consistency. Besides that, they've lost thier control power due to limitation of Royal Oppression. However, they're still a solid deck and still playable, but not top tier anymore.

MACHINA
Still the same as before. With heavy gone, they can control the game better. In last format, they din do well due to inability to stop OTK and big push... With Heavy Gone, this deck might do better, but not much different.

SCRAP
DO you play this deck before? It's good, versatile and consistent.

DUEL RECORD - HERALD VS GB

Me : Won the dice roll and went 1st, opened with CHARIOT, BESTIARI, MST, BOTTOMLESS, TEST TIGER and PROVING GROUND. Summon BESTIARI, set CHARIOT and BOTTOMLESS and ended.

Opponent : He activated ADVANCED RITUAL ART, sent 2 HAPPY LOVER and 2 MOKEY MOKEY to his grave, summoned HERALD. I activated BOTTOMLESS and he used HERALD's effect to negate my BOTTOMLESS, but I chained my CHARIOT and destroyed his HERALD. He activated DARK FACTORY to get back 2 HAPPY LOVER. Then, he summoned KRISTYA, get back HERALD from his grave, attack over BESTIARI and ended. My LP: 6700

ME : Drew BOOK OF MOON, activated it to flip KRISTYA down. I Activated PROVING GROUND, search for DARIUS, used TEST TIGER to tag out himself and revive BESTIARI, contact fusion for GYZARUS, destroyed KRISTYA and direct attacked, dropped him to 5600 LP, tag out EQUASTE get back chariot and LAQUARI. Ended.

Opponent : He summoned MANJU, get DAWN OF THE HERALD, then he actiavted DAWN OF THE HERALD and offered his MANJU and HAPPY LOVER as tribute to summon HERALD, then removed from play DAWN OF THE HERALD to get back MANJU. Then he drop KRISTIA w/o activated its effect, HERALD and KRISTIA attacked, destroy both of my GB and dropped me to 5800 LP.

ME : Drew PROVING GROUND, Ended.

OPPONENT : He dropped another KRISTIA, it's game.

META DECK ANALYSIS - HERALD OF PERFECTION

Well, we haven't seen a good control deck so far... Now it comes. Herald of Perfection, a ritual monster which act as a wall and negate every opponent's move. Herald of perfection is a great an balanced card as it is a Ritual Monster. No one will think a deck with random normal monster will be good. It's all because of 1 card, Herald of Perfection. Herald of Perfection has poor 1800 ATK, but a wall liked 2800 DEF which is almost unbreakable. Hence, most of the time Herald duelist not going to attack with Herald. But they have another big hitter, Archlord Kristia. Archlord Kristia ia a slightly overpowered boss. Easy summon condition, high ATk, gain advantage upon summon, and can lock your opponent down. Once Herald and Archlord Kristia both hit the field, it's game. Herald alone is not good enough to protect itself as opponent can just special summon something big to run over it, but Kristia special summon lock down ability that turn out into a full lock. Now you can't activate any effect and can't summon big monster... Herald has 2 variants, one utilising Advanced Art of Ritual, one using high monster count. While it has been proven that the 1st variant is better. Turn 1 Herald pretty consistent

MATHEMATIC - PROBABILITY IN YUGIOH

Now we shall see what ban list can do.

Assume your deck size is 40. If you run 3 copies of X card, what's the probability that you draw at least 1 copy in your opening turn?

Let probabilty of drawing at least 1 copy = p(A),

Case 1: drawing 1 copy
P(A1) = (3C1)(37C5)/(40C6)=0.3407

Case 2: drawing 2 copies
P(A2) = (3C2)(37C4)/(40C6) =0.0516

Case 3: drawing 3 copies
P(A3) = (3C3)(37C3)/(40C6) =0.0020

Hence P(A) = 0.3407 + 0.0516 + 0.0020 = 0.3943(40%)

If you run 2 copies of X card,
Let probability of drawing at least 1 copy = P(B)

Case 1: drawing 1 copies
P(B1) = (2C1)(38C5)/(40C6) = 0.2615

Case 2 : drawing 2 copies
P(B2) = (2C2)(38C4)/(40C6) = 0.0192

Hence P(B) = 0.2615 + 0.0192 = 0.2808(28%)

If you run 1 copy of X card,
Let probability of drawing at least 1 copy = P(C)

P(C) = (1C1)(39C5)/(40C6) = 0.15(15%)

Now it's clear that limiting does make difference...

META DECK ANALYSIS - THE GLADIATOR BEAST

I can't remember how long this deck is around. Maybe 3 years or more. It's always one of the great deck choice for every format, simply because it's so versatile. And it can always control over your opponent. Compared to other tier 1 deck, this deck seems to be lack of some speed. However its control power make up for that. A simple War Chariot lock can shut down opponent's play. Or even more, Heraklinos backed-up by a set chariot for complete lock down. Your opponent must summon a monster big enough to take down Heraklinos or lose. Moreover, this deck is one of the most consistent deck due to it's toolbox play style and tag system. Fighting a Gladiator Beast is just like fighting the whole deck. Your opponent not just need to worry about your field, hand, but your deck as well. Even more to add, Gladiator Beast duelist seldom draw trash hand. None of your hand will be totally useles. No dead draw just make this deck better.

Futhurmore, the broken GB boss monster still exist. He is the best fusion ever created - Gladiator Beast Gyzarus. Gladiator Beast even try to build thier deck around him which maximising chance of Gyzarus spam. For instance, Prisma Gladiator Beast deck. Once he's out, you at least gain +1 card advantage. If he survive and attacked sucussfully, you creat even more advantage and finally contact into Heraklinos which lock down your opponent and your victory is almost ensured. Even with Bestiari at 1, it every easy to summon Gyzarus. Since there is proving ground, prisma and test tiger combo, spaming gyzarus is the way too consistant. All you need to care is D.D. Crow and Bottomless Trap Hole which can remove your Bestiari from play.

NEW CARD IDEA

I've posted this in Pojo Creat a Card Forum. This is my first archtype ever. My main is to creat an anti-meta archtype which can fight hand to hand with those Tier 1 deck. They focus on anti-special summon, destroying special summoned monster, negating card's effect.

Monster
White Knight - the Protector
LIGHT/Level 1/Warrior/Effect:
When a face-up "White Knight" monster you control is attacked, you can send this card from your hand to your graveyard to negate the attack.
Atk 0/Def 0

White Knight - the Guardian
LIGHT/Level 1/Warrior/Tuner/Effect:
Up to once per turn, this card can't be destroy by battle. Once per turn, you can reveal any number of "White Knight" monster(s) in your hand to increase the level of this card by one for each card revealed. This card cannot be used as a synchro material monster, except for the synchro summon of a "White Knight" synchro monster. The other synchro material monster(s) must be "White Knight" monster(s).
Atk 0/Def 0

White Knight - the Ranger
LIGHT/Level 2/Warrior/Effect:
When you control face-up "White Knight" mosnter(s), you can remove from play this card in your graveyard to negate a special summon of a monster and/or the effect of a card that special summons a monster and destroy it.
Atk 800/Def 700

White Knight - the Defender
LIGHT/Level 3/Warrior/Effect:
When this card is normal or flip summoned, it is changed to defense position. Your opponent can only activate a spell and trap card per turn.
Atk 0/Def 2200

White Knight - the Mage
LIGHT/Level 3/Spellcaster/Tuner/Effect:
Once per turn, you can change this card in attack position to defense position to change the battle position of 1 monster your opponent controls. If this card is used as a Synchro Material Monster for the synchro summon of a "White Knight" synchro monster and sent to the Graveyard, you can remove from play up to 2 cards in your opponent graveyard.
Atk 1300/Def 400

White Knight - the Sorcerer
LIGHT/Level 4/Spellcaster/Effect:
When this card is normal summoned, add 1 "White Knight" spell card from your deck to your hand. You can't activate that spell card this turn. If this card leaves the field, remove it from play.
Atk 1700/Def 0

White Knight - the Twin Sword Blader
LIGHT/Level 4/Warrior/Effect:
You can return 1 face-up "White Knight" mosnter other than "White Knight - the Twin Sword Blader" to special summon this card from your hand. If this card is special summoned by this way, destory 1 monster on the field that was special summoned.
Atk 1800/Def 1000

White Knight - the Paladin
LIGHT/Level 4/Warrior/Effect:
When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the graveyard, your opponent cannot special summon any monster next turn.
Atk 1900/Def 1200

White Knight - the Crusader
LIGHT/Level 5/Warrior/Effect:

META DECK ANALYSIS, BLACKWINGS

A bit surprised. Blackwing has dropped in popularity and seems like nobody plays them anymore. Is that true? Hitting Allure and Black Whirlwind really hurts them so much? We'll see then. Blackwing is the 1st 5d's archtype that is proven to be good. They are aggressive, fast and strong. Blackwing monsters generally have high ATK, they get even stronger when supported by Kalut. They can synchro, use their graveyard effectively with Vayu and Blizzard, they can search upon normal summon via Black whirlwind, they can main anti-meta cards like Royal Oppression and Skill Drain and still works, they even can OTK or push heavy damage by swarming. I see no point for them to be bad. But why? No one plays them anymore

In this format, Blackwing's players have to admit that Blackwing is under the shadow
of X-Saber and Infernity. This 2 decks have owned everything in this format. However, some deck like Gladiator Beast still can stand a chance in this meta mainly because of thier control power. Blackwing who lack of control power thus lose out.Armor Master used to be good in Stardust format, which Armor Master can easily kill Stardust. But in a format with all one for one removal running around, I doubt it will. D.D. Crow, yeah! It's another card that helps Blackwing in this format. No deck can run it so well except Blackwing. When you don't need it, there is Allure and Icarus. Not yet mention DAD. This card is really well-fixed in Blackwing. It's bacause of Vayu, Blizzard and D.D. Crow. Vayu removes 2 Dark, Blizzard remove 1 Dark, D.D. Crow add 1 Dark in your graveyard. So, here is an advice. Blackwing Players don't give up, just wait for another list. Another point to add, Blackwing and Gladiator Beast are the decks that guard the format for Konami. Both of them make sure the format is under control and make all tier 2 or below decks unplayable during the exchange of the format.

HEY, ELEMENTAL HEROS!

My old friend, E-Hero. Seems like you've been forgoten. You're no longer good, since the meta now is flooded with all new archtypes as they are more well supported than you. But for those who like Yugi Judai, you can always make a casual deck based on E-Hero and it's not too bad actually.

JUST ANOTHER COMPLAIN

Still remember Tele-Dad and Lightsworn? I'm not going to talk about Chaos as it's too far away from this format. When synchro monsters were introduced, some creative guys created a deck called Tele-Dad. It's ability to create synchro without wasting many resource make it a top deck. It was dominating the whole meta, won every tournament, killed deck diversity. After that, it was killed by the banlist. However, another deck rise up. It was the Lightsworns. The whole milling mechanism is broke, especially with its boss - Judgement Dragon. Drop Judgement Dragon, and win. Lightsworns deck was once called "auto-piloted deck" by many players as it's a less skillful and luck dependent deck. It just out-shined every deck until the banlist killed it. Now, we have 2 deck to compete for the top spot, X-Sabers and Infernities. However, I feel that X-Sabers just out-power Infernities in terms of consistency and speed. Once it actiavtes Cold Wave + Cat combo, followed by a Faultroll, good game. X-Sabers is too broken to stay, together with it's brother Infernities.

DECK ANALYSIS, THE SIX SAMURAI

An old deck which has been forgotten, however I do feel that they've potential to be good. They are versatile, fast and strong. With the new support(I mean Gate Way of the Six), they get even better. If you mention about Six Samurai, you gonna know who is Money Smith. He modernised Six Samurai and made them compete with other top decks. One of the smartest move made by him is to take out Great Shogun Shien. This card is a crap, It's a 70% dead draw. I've modified Money Smith's Six Samurai deck to adapt to the meta. This deck is the best possible build of Six Samurai in this format. I choose to run a copy of Morphing jar in this deck because of low monster count of this deck. And Monster Gate works surprisingly well in this deck. It support United and Gate way. It can also turn your monster into something stronger. The Strongest move of this deck is to summon Hand of the Six Samurai with 2 Gate Way on your field. Activate Gate Way to search for Grandmaster. Special summon Grandmaster and tribute it for Hand's Effect to destroy a card of opponent. Continue to do so until you clear your opponent's field.

Monsters(17)
3x Grandmaster of the Six Samurai
3x Hand of the Six Samurai
3x The Six Samurai – Zanji
3x The Six Samurai – Irou
3x The Six Samurai – Yaichi
1x The Six Samurai – Kamon
1x Morphing Jar

Spells(12)
3x Six Samurai United
3x Gateway of the Six
2x Book of Moon
1x Reinforcement of the Army
1x Heavy Storm
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Monster Gate

Traps(11)
1x Starlight Road
2x Dimensional Prison
2x Bottomless Trap Hole
2x Dust Tornado
1x Mirror Force
1x Solemn Judgment
1x Call of the Haunted
1x Torrential Tribute

Pros:
1)Versatile
2)Explosive
3)Have good drawing power

Cons:
1)Not consistant enough
2)High Chance of dead draw
3)Not fast enough

DECK ANALYSIS, FADER SALVO DAD

One of the most skillful deck to use. This deck is the only non-aggro type top deck in this meta. I forgot the creator of this deck( feel sorry for the creator, I admire your creativity), this deck is so fun to play and so annoying to play against. It might take you long time to beat this deck as this deck is really good at it's defence. It has 2 main engines which keep this deck run, Fader-Alchemist engine and Salvo-Dekoichi engine. Fader-Alchemist engine depends on Battle Fader to block direct attack and use Dimensional Alchemist to reuse Battle Fader. Since when Battle Fader is removed from the field, it's removed from play. Hence, Dimensional Alchemist can get Battle Fader back when it dies. Moreover, Dimensional Alchemist also can act as a 1800 beatstick. If you're lucky enough to remove something good by it's effect, it's a plus. This deck runs 20-22 which is considered as high monster count to increase the chance of hitting a monster by Dimensional Alchemist. Furthermore, it can also reuse something removed from play by Dark Armed Dragon, Chaos Sorcerer, and Cyber Velley. Whereas Salvo-Dekoichi engine provide synchro possibility for this deck. Dekoichi is a floater which gives you a free draw when it's flipped. With 3 Battle Fader( probably 6 as it can be reused), this deck can cause some problem to aggressive deck.

Gorz the Emissary of Darkness x1

Pros:
1)Hard to win against, or it takes time to win this deck.
2)Can not be OTKed by battle.
3)Can maintain hand advantage and can manage its resource quite well.
4)Good against aggressive deck

Cons:
1)Hard time aginst control-based deck.
2)Require high skill level to play.
3)Pointless against burn deck or deck with alternative win condition.

NEW AGE OF YUGI-OH, THE INFERNITY & X-SABER

Again, a perfect format is spoiled again by the releasing of the Shining Darkness...
The Shining Darkness give X-Saber so many support, bring them to a new level of competivity... The same applies for Infernity. Blackwing is definitely drop down a tier... Gladiator still can compete pretty well, thanks to Chariot. Unlike X-Saber, Infernity can be easily side against. A well-timed D.D. Crow can screw it up. Even Quickdraw Plant and Flamevell Cat lose thier shine infront of Infernity and X-Saber. Something must be done to bring back the fun...

I'M HERE, RIGHT NOW

I remembered the time when I was only 170cm tall, with 3cm hair(I mean the logest one), that time I was crazy about Maple Story(an online game). Maple Story I think only got 4 types of jobs(I mean long time ago). I also watched my favourite movie of all times - TRANSFORMER. Later on, I was bored about Maple Story and picked up Dota(I think that time was 6.40 map). Maybe since that time I crazy about N-Tech, always go to N-Tech with my friends and "brothers". Feel bored about Dota, go for Yugi-oh. However, I din't have enough money that time to buy cards. Time passed quicky, I was going to sit for SPM paper soon. But, I din't work hard at all, played all the days. Finally, beat the "SPM Boss" , proceeded to the next level. Krico, yeah. 1st working experience. But it was like black-hearted company, gave me soo little salary and kept calling me to work overtime. Now, I'm studying in Form 6, 178cm tall, 6cm hair, no longer playing Dota, no longer playing Maple Story, however still playing yugioh, and I had watched Transformer 2(going to watch 3 next year). I do not dare to say that I'm still the same as before, but I do sincere... My story is boring, I do know. But I'll try my best to make it more interesting...

FOR THOSE BAN THIS BAN THAT PEOPLE...

I often visit yugi-oh strategy sites and forum, and I found that many like to complain about this card is broken, that card is broken... Even it's not true, they still insist on their own point. Just an example, above 80% of forumer complained that Judgement Dragon is broken and needed to be banned. I knew, as a duelist we've some experience about Lightsworn format(one of the worst format that kills all the fun). They just failed to realize that Judgement Dragon is not broken anymore. It's power still maintain the same, however he's a lot harder to summon now with Charge and Lumina limited. Moreover, Lightsworn isn't topping anymore... So, why complain about Lightsworn. Even Wulf they also want to complain. With weakened mill power, I don't see Wulf as a problem. They just don't see the fact that Wulf is a dead draw in hand. With Lumina limited, Lightsworn players have hard time discard their dead Wulf. Some complain about DAD yet... What's so great about him? Having exactly 3 DARKs in graveyard. I think only Blackwing can use this card really effectively. Even DAD has the chance to be a dead draw. But I can agree with Rekindling and Infernity Gun being broken. But limitation will solve the problem. Don't try to say everything is broken, let's ban all. Banning should always be the last step.

I think this list is fine, it may not be good for everyone(personal opinion).

SIDE DECK MATERIALS

Well, today we'll discuss about side deck then. Side deck is VERY VERY IMPORTANT.
Sometime, a well side deck can win you game. Before constructing your side deck, you must understand the meta well. Example: if many players at your local run Blackwings, then your side deck should be built to against Blackwings deck. Lets look at some popular choices as side deck materials.

- Royal Oppression
- D.D. Crow
- Nobbleman of Crossout
- Deck Devastation Virus(only for Blackwings and Dragon)

AGAINST GLADIATOR BEAST:
- Royal Oppression
- Skill Drain(only for blackwing)
- Legendary Jujitsu Master
- Mirror of Oaths

AGAINST BLACKWING:
- Dust Tornado
- Trap Hole
- Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer(against Vayu Turbo)

AGAINST FLAMEVELL CAT
- D.D. Crow
- Nobbleman of Crossout

- System Down

THE TIER, IT'S CLEAR NOW...

The 75th SHONEN JUMP Championship was over, the result is quite surprising. I'm like wow, out of my expectation. Quickdraw Plant won the 1st place, followed by Doomcaliber Knight as the 2nd place. I think I do not need to post top 16 deck list as their deck list can be searched by using the Internet. Gladiator Beasts did perform well, but looks like GB players prefer Prisma GBs over Cat GBs. Another surprise was all Gadget players who made it to the top ran 3 copies of each gadget in their deck. This appied to Machina Gadget. Blackwings had drooped in popularity, only 1 BW deck enter top 16. Gravekeeper also perform quite well as 1 Gk deck enter top 16. Although 1 SHONEN JUMP can't simply show how the meta goes, however it makes sense on the next SHONEN JUMP. The result will almost the same(personal opinion), just wait... Dandylion at 2 defines the format( copy and paste from pojo).

BEST POSSIBLE DECK(PART 2)

Before reading this post, if you have any question about what deck should you build, read my previous post "BEST POSSIBLE DECK".

What is the purpose of deck building? It's to maximising your luck during duel. Remember, build deck to draw good card.

1. Always build your deck around 40 cards. This is to increase deck's consistency. A thinner deck will have higher chance to draw certain cards compare to a thicker deck.

2. Always get staple cards first. A card is considered as staple if it's used in almost every deck, especially meta deck.

Example of staple cards:
-Heavy Storm
-Mystical Space Typhoon
-Smashing Ground
-Book of Moon
-Mirror Force
-Torrential Tribute
-Bottomless Trap Hole
-Solemn Judgement

3. After that, get your semi-staple. A card is considered as semi-staple if it's used in many deck, but not everyone runs it. A semi-staple card is also a good side deck material.

Example of semi-staple cards:
-Lightning Vortex
-Enemy Controller
-My Body as Shield
-Dust Tornado
-Dimension Prison
-Starlight Road
-Trap Dustshot
-Royal Oppression
-Call of the Haunted

4. Then, get cards that support and work together with your cards based on your deck type. As an instance, if you run a Blackwing deck, get cards such as Black Whirl Wind, Allure of Darkness, Dark Armed Dragon and Icarus Attack.

5. Now, work on your extra deck. 15 cards is suggested(provided you have enough money). Extra deck may consist of synchro monster and fusion monster. Actually, extra deck also has its STAPLE.

Example of STAPLE SYNCHRO:
Trishula, the Dragon of the Ice Boundary
Stardust Dragon
Blackrose Dragon
Goyo Guardian
Brionic, the Dragon of the Ice Boundary
AOJ Castator
Armory Arm

6. Finally, consider some card as your side deck. Purpose of side deck is to against other decks. Side deck materials often change every format. Your side deck should always based on meta. Example:

Against Blackwings - Trap hole, Thunder King Rai-oh
Against Machina Gadgets - Thunder King Rai-oh, Chimterach Fortress Dragon.
Against Flamevell cat - Nobleman of Crossout
Against Gladiator Beast - Legendary Juju Master, Royal Oppression

Then we reached To'Kun there at almost 7.20am. Yan Pin, Chee Wei and Ah Foo also reached there already. But we still din't see our "Dai Lou" yet... (Dai Lou here = Benny). That "Dai Lou" really din't know do people lo... Need to wait him for so long. I think maybe at 7.40am( agak again), he finally "snailed" come. Lol on him. QUICKDRAW PLANT, RISE OF THE PLANT

Quickdraw plant is a newly born deck. During March 2010 Banlist, Dandylion was semi-limited(before that it was limited). I thought it won't cause this much of impact but I was mistaken again. Maybe this is the fun aspect of the game itself, CREATIVITY. I like this deck because it a new deck (although it consists of old card), it is a new concept, and it prove to be good. The first time I saw Quickdraw Plant was last month, maybe it was the second or third week of March. Nobody(including me) believed that this deck can go so far. Regional result has proven that this deck is good, as good as other top tier decks such as Blackwings, Gladiator Beasts and Machina Gadgets.

STAR LIGHT ROAD

Normal Trap Card
Activate only when an effect is activated that would destroy 2 or more cards you control. Negate the effect and destroy that card. Then, you can Special Summon 1 "Stardust Dragon" from your Extra Deck.

Rating: 3/5

This card is not a staple, but a semi-staple. This card doesn't change the format, but change the way how the game play. This card is not broken, but introduce the new level of skill to this game. This card is the counter to 3 cards which are commonly run - Heavy Storm, Torrential Tribute, Mirror Force. This card concept sounds broken. Negate card's effect with no cost and destroy that card, and you gain a Stardust Dragon - a 2500 beater which can negate another destruction. That means this card is +1 without any cost. However, this card can only be activated when your opponent activates a card's effect which can destroy at least 2 of your cards. Furthermore, this card SPECIAL SUMMON a stardust dragon from your extra deck, NOT SYNCHRO SUMMON. That's mean you can't special summon him form graveyard later even with his own effect. Hence, Stardust Dragon can only use his effect for one time, and can't be revived during your end phase. These 2 aspect make this card less broken. This card is hard to activate but when it goes off, it will be game breaking by itself. Besides that, this card can be a great counter for many deck. let's see...

Blackwings - Icarus Attack
Gladiator Beasts - Gladiator Beast Gyzarus
Lightsworns - Judgement Dragon and Celestia, the Lightsworn Angel

However, this card doesn't work so well against Blackwings because they main Royal Oppression. Royal Oppression can negate Starlight Road even you do not choose to special summon Stardust Dragon. Why I said that this card promotes more skill in this game? If you can see, before the introduction of Star Light Road, every one can't wait to play his heavy storm if their opponent has 2 or more set spell or trap card and laugh at their opponent. After the introduction of Star Light Road, every one play more conservatively. So, if you do not have any solution for a Stardust Dragon, don't do that until you can get around Stardust Dragon.

YUGIOH MARCH 2010 TIER (SEEMS I WAS WRONG LAST TIME)

It has been some time from 1 March. Now, it's clear that I've made some mistake in one of the article that I posted last month. Now, lets see again...

BLACKWINGS

After the release of 702 DUELIST REVOLUTION, everything changes. It's because of a single card, just 1 card. What card has the impact like that? It's POT OF GREEDEROSITY. If you had no idea about that, just read my previous article. It's just owning. This card will make Blackwings better, if not the best. Blackwings can just forget about thier Blackwing Treasure, and pick up this card. Blackwings players can just make 2 rooms for this card and easily run 2 copies of this card. This card is just much more better than Blackwing Treasure because of the fact that this card will NEVER be DEAD DRAW, but Blackwing Treasure does. Another reason that Blackwings will be big is because they can run ROYAL OPPRESSION without causing many problems to them. Royal Oppression will help them to fight against any top tier deck such as Gladiator Beasts, Infernities and X-saber. Furthermore, this card can negate STARLIGHT ROAD. One of the big play of Blackwings is ICARUS ATTACK which can be negated by Starlight Road. However, if thier Icarus Attack is negated by Starlight Road, they are in troble since their opponents gain a Stardust Dragon. Fortunately, Royal Oppression can negate Stardust Road. Problem is solved then.

Status: TIER 1

FLAMEVELLS CAT

Synchro Cat has fall in its popularity since the limitation of RESCUE CAT. However, the deck begins to rise up when Flamevells monster and REKINDLING are released. They make up the new variant of Synchro Cat, it's called FLAMEVELL CAT. Regional results have proven that it works, it really works. One of the big play of this deck is to use Flamevell Firedog to destroy opponent's monster, it follows by special summoning Flamevell Magician from deck, synchro for a Stardust Dragon. However, this deck tend to has big problem with its consistency. Drawing into bad opening hand will be sucks for the players. However, it's one of the deck which has VERY VERY high EXPLOSIVITY. Once its comboes go on, it can cause huge damage on opponents. Moreover, this deck can run 1 or 2 copies of POT OF GREEDEROSITY to increase its speed and consistency.

Status: TIER 1

INFERNITIES

They're big, really big. But not big enough to defeat Blackwings and Flamevells Cat. Without Pot of Greederosity, Infernities win. With Pot of Greederosity, Infernities lose. I'm not joking. Maybe you'll think how can a card make this much of changes? But it really can. Infernities are one of the deck that can't run Pot of Greederosity effectively. I highly recommend not to run even 1 copy of it. POT OF GREEDEROSITY = you can't win this turn. Infernities highly rely on swarming and synchro spam to win, this card just not suits them. Pot of Greederosity can highly increase the speed and consistency of the deck which runs it. Blackwings is gonna owning as it's the only tier 1 deck that can effectively runs this card.

Status: TIER 1

GLADIATOR BEASTS

None of thier card is touched, but now it's clear that thier time has over. They're good, competitve and strong. But, they're not going to be an unstoppable force again just like they used to be. There're still some decks which are much more stroger than them. Blackwings are thier strongest match-up, and will continue to be. With Pot of Greederosity, Blackwings are harder to beat. Gladiator Beasts can't run Pot of Greederosity as they're not going to give up thier tag system just to use this card. However, to beat some tier 2 decks such as Monarchs, Final Countdown and Plant, Gladiator Beast are more than enough. War Chariot owns them all.

Status: TIER 1.5

X-SABERS

SABER HOLE has brought this deck to the new level. Saber Hole brokeness is something like Gladiator Beast War Chariot can't compare. However, Gladiator Beast War Chariot has its advantage as it is searchable and recyclable. X-Sabers can gain control of the game with this card. The Shining Darkness has given them some good supports such as XX-Saber Emmersblade, XX-Saber Boggart Knight and XX-Saber Hyunlei which bring them up as a new force to be rockened with. Again, Pot of Greederosity is a nice addition to this deck. Running 2 copies won't hurt.

Status: TIER 1.5

Decks above are "top 5" which should gain some attention. Don't ask me why, regional results have proven them to be the "top 5".

COMBINING YUGIOH WITH MATHEMATICS

Yugioh is about card advantage, NOT LIFE POINT. You may have 10000 life point against 100 life point but still lose if you didn't have card advantage.

CARD ADVANTAGE = HAND ADVANTAGE + FIELD ADVANTAGE

Example & Explanation:
Yusei has 2 cards in hand, 2 set cards in spell & trap zone and a face-up Stardust Dragon. How much card advantage he has?

Answer: 2+2+1 = 5

OK, well... I feel like teaching like a stupid teacher so... I'll use a simple way then. Card advantage means the total card that a player on his/her field or in his/her hand. Yugioh is about using the minimum resource to eliminate the maximum resource from a player's opponent. Yugioh is a complex game, a game that need brain, not a children's card game. However, having large card advantage doesn't ensure a player's victory. You may have 5 cards in your hand and 10 cards on your field but have no answer to a Judgement Dragon. In just 1 blow of Judgement Dragon, it cost -10 on you. That's why, many complain that Judgement Dragon should be banned. Fortunately, many of Lightsworns' card had been touched so that Judgement dragon won't come out that often.

Ok, Lets talk something about banlist. Broken cards should be banned to keep the game in control. However, what means by broken? Broken in most of the cases means the advantage that a player gains by playing a card is too much if compare to its cost that result in an unfair stituation. As an example: POT OF GREED - the most simplest and most powerful card in the game. As simple as 3 words - Draw 2 cards. However, it is the most broken card ever created. It gains you +1 for no cost. For anyone who still new to the game, see this:

Activate Pot of Greed, Pot of Greed is sent to graveyard and this reduces your hand size by 1 = -1

Draw 2 card, you gain 2 card advantage then = +2

So total = -1+2 = +1

However, card advantage can't solely represents the word "Broken". Some card such as Dark Magician of Chaos reduce player's card advantage, however still broken.

Tribute 2 monster to summoned Dark Magician of Chaos, player lose 2 monster on his/her field = -2

Player lose 1 card(Dark Magician of Chaos) in his/her hand = -1

Player gain 1 monster(Dark Magician of Chaos) on his/her field = +1

Due to Dark Magician of Chaos's effect, add 1 spell from graveyard to player's hand = +1

So, total = -2-1+1+1 = -1

However, some broken card such as Change of Heart will cause variable lost or gain of card advantage. If you just take control of opponent's monster, launch a direct attack, return that monster to him/her during end phase, that's -1. However, a good player won't do that. Below is an example that shows the most advantage a player can gain by using Change of Heart.

Play Change of Heart, Change of Heart is sent to graveyard = -1

Take control of a monster = +0 as you must return that monster back to your opponent during the end phase.

Take down a monster with that monster = +1

Possibility of using its effect = +0 or more than 0

Synchro with that monster = +0 (assume it cost you one of your own monster)

so total = -1+0+1+0+0 = 0 or more than 0 depends on that monster's effect. However, you gain a big monster by synchroning which may gain you more advantage next turn.

Further example of broken cards. One for one sounds balanced, but some of them are actually broken. Chainable one for one can result in one for two which can be broken. Such as your opponent use his/her heavy storm on your Ring of Destruction and you chain it and destroy 1 of your opponent's monster. This cause -1 on you but cause -2 on your opponent.

Ok, now lets talk about another topic then.

TRIBUTE SUMMON = -(THE NUMBER OF MONSTER USED AS TRIBUTE)

Example & Explanation:
Jack Atlas tributes one of his monster to summon Big Piece Golem. How much card advantage he loses?

Answer: He tributes 1 monster = -1

FUSION SUMMON = -(THE NUMBER OF MONSTER USED AS FUSION MATERIAL)

Example & Explanation:
Seto Kaiba fuses 3 of his Blue-Eyes White Dragon to summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.

Answer: Fusion materials are 3 monsters = -3

Thing get more complex so I would like to explain. See below:

Kaiba actiavte Polimerisation, Polimerisation is sent to graveyard = -1

He sends 3 of his Blue-Eyes White Dragon to graveyard = -3

He gains a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon = +1

So, total = -1-3+1 = -3

However, this is only true for fusion summon using Polimerisation.
Some fusion summon such as Miracle Fusion and Overload Fusion are one for one. Future fusion even can gain a player +2 or even +3. I do like to seperate Contact Fusion from here as it's totally different story.

CONTACT FUSION = - THE NUMBER OF MONSTER USED AS FUSION MATERIAL +1

Example & Explanation:
Goay contact fusion Summon Gladiator Beast Heraklinos by using his Gladiator Beast Laquari and 2 of his "Gladiator Beast" monster.

Answer: Number of monster used as fusion material =3. Hence, -3+1 = -2

But, some contact fusion can gain a player huge advantage such as contact fusion summon of Gladiator Beast Gyzarus. See below:

Return 1 Gladiator Beast Bestiari and 1 Gladiator Beast monster to player's deck = -2

Gain Gladiator Beast Gyzarus = +1

Activate Gladiator Beast Gyzarus's effect, destroy 2 opponent's cards = +2

Attack and send Gladiator Beast Gyzarus into extra deck = -1

Tag out 2 more Gladiator Beast Monsters = +2

Activate 2 Gladiator Beast Monsters effect = +2(the most)

So, total = -2+1+2-1+2+2 = +4(maybe lesser) oh... broken again...

SYNCHRO SUMMON (LAST) = - THE NUMBER OF MONSTER USED AS SYNCHRO MATERIAL +1

Example & Explanation
Yusei send 3 of his monster to graveyard to synchro summoned Stardust Dragon

Answer: The number of monster used as synchro material = 3. So -3+1 =-2

POT OF GREEDEROSITY

Pot of Greederosity [Super Rare]
Normal Magic Card
Look at the top 3 cards of your deck. Select 1 of them and add it to your hand, and return the rest to your deck. You can only activate 1 "Pot of Greederosity" per turn and you cannot Special Summon during the turn your activated this card.

Rating: 4/5

Let's Discuss this card. Oh... no. Damn broken. It's just like another graceful charity. The only different is you can't special summon if you activate this card. The 1st restriction makes no different as the chance of drawing 2 "Pot of Greederosity" is very low. What does this card offer? It thins up your deck by 1 and it provide choice. You can choose one of the 3 cards which you need it the most and add it to your hand. It provide more possibility. If you draw it 1st turn, it's kinda like you open hand with 8 cards. Wow, amazing! But, I highly doubt it will stay at 3 for a long time. It's too broken to be at 3. It's like a new staple, if not for every deck. Some decks that will greatly gain advantage from this card are Anti-meta, Final Countdown and Blackwing. Even some deck which special summon a lot still can run 1 or 2 copies as it's not going like special summon every turn. Anti-meta will be pushed up a tier with this card at 3. If you're an Anti-meta player and have brain, run 3( no exception). Anti-meta decks such as Gadget Oppression, Rock Stun and Little City will run 2 or 3 copies of Thunder King Rai-Oh. So, I've to remind you guys that this card's effect does not stack with Thunder King Rai-Oh. You can't activate this card if Thunder King Rai-oh is on your field. But, don't tell me Rai-Oh never dies. You understand what I mean? Looking at a good card like this makes me happy. Konami has finally make a really good card. It is a new staple to everyone unless you're a GBs player like me( which makes me sad). Gladiator Beast just can't run this card, not even 1 copy.

GADGET OPPRESSION, HOW IT SHOULD BE ?

I quited yugi-oh when i was form 2 (2006) and just came back in 2008. I came back after watching 5D's. Synchro attracted me to this game again. So... I needed to learn from the basic again and try to keep up to the meta. That time, I wanted to build a gadget oppression as I'm pretty interested in anti-meta deck and i found that gadget oppression is good. Although until now I still haven't built it( actually I already build my Gladiator Beast), but I know how to play and build it well.

CONCEPT( if you weren't new to the game, you do not need to read through this)
ONE FOR ONE. Gadgets are floater that will always replace themselves when they are summoned. Their ability ensure continuous monster resource and always gain you +1 upon summoning. It is unwise to use monster removal on them. They also can't be bottomlessed as all of them has ATK below 1500.

DECKLIST
I do believe that this is the best decklist. This may change depends on the meta or when new cards are released.

META ANALYSIS
When March 2010 ban list came out, many said that gadget will be pushed up a tier because of umlimiting of Smashing Ground. Actually, they're wrong. Gadget Oppression loses 1 Royal Oppression and 2 Tragodia ( maybe 1 since many only run 2). Many go for another variant of Gadgets - Machina Gadgets. Although they share the same concept(one for one), however Machina Gadgets are meta deck while Gadgets Oppression
are anti-meta deck. They see the light when 702-DUELIST REVOLUTION pack is released.
One of the cards in Duekist Revolution is Pot of Greederosity. A really good card which will help Gadgets Oppression to compete.

DREV-JP062 Pot of Greederosity [Super Rare]
Normal Magic Card
Look at the top 3 cards of your deck. Select 1 of them and add it to your hand, and return the rest to your deck. You can only activate 1 "Pot of Greederosity" per turn and you cannot Special Summon during the turn your activated this card.

Now, you should knows this card quite well( except for its picture, sorry for that). It is like the new Graceful Charity, just not being a broken card as it is not highly abusable. Stopping you from special summoning does nothing to you as you won't do that. So why not run the maximum alowed copies of this card. It is too good to be used.
